The worst conditions to deal with are those involving a “highly critical” situation. A problem is defined as “critical” when its occurrence could have repercussions on business continuity, causing unplanned production stoppages. This is exactly what happened to one of our customers in the food industry who contacted us to resume production after the line had stopped following a sudden machine failure.
Facing critical conditions quickly with an analytical approach oriented towards improvement.
Solution
In this case, the fault was caused by the sudden breakage of a component that had actually been taken out of production by the manufacturer. To enable the customer to restart production, an analysis was made of previous upgrades and possible elimination of the same component from similar production lines. The manufacturer was also asked to provide all the necessary specifications and technical data.
Result
Following successful completion of the analysis, DT Software was able to organise procurement of the damaged component and arrange for the old one to be discarded and replaced with the new one. Within a few hours the system was back in operation to the full satisfaction of the customer.
